Cruise Details
The skipper will navigate north towards the North Foreland lighthouse and once clear of the break waters will increase speed to a comfortable cruising speed and start your cruise around the ever-changing unique Kent coastline. The Mona Lisa's sonar will be on so that you will be able to monitor the changing sea bottom and also see any wrecks or shoals of fish that we pass over.
Cruising along the golden sands of Broadstairs you will have spectacular views of the famous Charles Dickens landmark Bleak House. Onwards we sail passing the North Foreland Lighthouse and experience the renowned fast tidal running waters which the Mona Lisa comfortably ploughs through.
The next part of coastline we come to is very interesting due to the activity of smuggling and the clear evidence of smugglers caves and tunnels that have been left in the Hugh chalk structured cliffs.
Sit back and relax while we blast through the open waters between Kingsgate and the historical land mark of Reculver, where we will check to see if the common seals on the Margate sand banks are home depending on the conditions and depth constraints of the tide.
From Reculver we will steer out into deeper water and take in spectacular views of the World War II sea defence forts built offshore to protect against any sea invasion. The gun turrets are clearly visible and the Mona Lisa will be able to go right alongside for a very close look and these amazing structures.
On our return journey we will pass the Kentish Flats wind farms, cruising to the interesting remote area of Joss bay, and then back to the boats mooring at Ramsgate harbour.
