Autumn is a season of every changing sky’s, bird migration and of course the seals are still present for your spectatorship!

The last week we have been clocking up the sea miles, from being really busy all bank holiday weekend running Seal watching trips and then finishing off on bank holiday Monday with a champagne cruise in which the client proposed to his good lady on the front deck of the Mona Lisa. The sun was shinning, the champagne flowing and being on the elegant Mona Lisa of course she said YES…
I received an email the next day with the following comments:

Comments re: Romantic Cruise: "Surpassed my expectations for a great way to propose! Great service and sunny Thanet made it an amazing trip round some of the bays".
Thanks again Mark Speller.

I have suggested to them that they charter the Mona Lisa next year to celebrate their anniversary by sipping champers on the same Latitude and Longitude that the proposal was made :-)

After running a few Seal watching trips through the week in which we have been offering a discount to children on a party of four or more (hopefully this helps in these credit crunch time’s) the weekend was upon us. The vessel was used for a variety of cruises this weekend, apart from the Seal watching trips in which one couple upgraded and sipped champagne and munched on strawberries while watching the Seals perform, we also ran a couple of romantic bay cruises for anniversary celebrations. Finally we put some ashes to rest, a lady from Norfolk travelled down to scatter her husband’s ashes from the stern of the Mona Lisa, it was very peaceful and pleasant, see our website for full details on all cruises.

Don’t make a splash and rack it and stack it on other less elegant charter vessels, in other words don’t take the bus when you can travel in a heated comfortable elegant vessel that still will push on at 33knots.

Why not charter the whole vessel for you and your friends or loved one – visit our website for more information www.galleoncruises.com or call 077 400 710 15.

See you aboard !

Seal Boat Trips from Ramsgate Harbour

What a fantastic summer it has been so far.
The Common Seals are out in full force, and we counted 41 while running a trip last weekend.
The SE coast really comes into its own when the sun is shinning, why not treat yourselves to one of our cruises and indulge in some champagne and strawberries - all details can be found at www.galleoncruises.com or call the skipper direct on 077 400 710 15.

Until the end of the month we are running a fantastic offer in which if book the boat for five people then you go free. On a bright and increasingly warm end to the month, the bird watching has been great. A glorious calm and sunny morning last Sunday while running a seal watching boat trip we saw the arrival of summer migrants that included Swallows, Sand Martins, a House Martin, at least one Blackcap, Chiffchaffs and Wheatears. Black Redstarts remained along the shore and raptors included a Common Buzzard and a Sparrowhawk flying N.

The Common Seal colony based on the Stour mouth in which on a quick count up were 16, were in a very playful and active mood, lots of splashing and chasing each other. Its great to see the sun at last although the coastline has been very pretty over the last three months, but I don’t miss de-icing the boat before we set sail – there’s nothing pretty about that’ just cold fingers…

The Russian vessel Sinegorsk issued an alert in rough seas at 8.15am on Monday 19th January after it shed up to 1,500 tonnes of its sawn timber load around 14 miles off the coast of Newhaven, East Sussex. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency monitored the timber as it drifted steadily in a north-easterly direction towards the Dover Strait, floating onto Ramsgate.
Great if you was building a garden shed but not so good for high powered vessel like the Mona Lisa, we stayed in port for a week to ensure that we did not hit any of the floating and submerged timber. I can think of other ways to put Ramsgate on the map J
The last week the sea phone has not stopped ringing with boat bookings for throughout 2009, this has surprised me due to the current financial climate. The Galleon Cruises website is now fully up to date with all the coastal events for 2009, and we have launched some new boat trips and lunch cruises - so don’t delay and book today to avoid disappointment.
Don’t forget that we provide gift vouchers for those all-important special occasions.
For more information visit www.galleoncruises.com or call the sea phone 077 400 710 15
Signing off – Dale Bradley (Owner and Skipper)

Boat Trips Ramsgate

Galleon Cruises is based in Ramsgate, Kent.

We offer boat trips around the coast of East Kent, there are trips to see the seals, Romantic Evening Cruises, Site seeing tours of smuggler caves, wind farm and various other locations scattered around the coast of Thanet.

One of our newest trips which has received excellent feed back from clients is our Scattering of Ashes boat trip.
